Who we are
Built on Grit, Fire, and Family – The Story of Richlyn Customs
We’re the Shirley family—born, raised, and still grinding right here in South Louisiana. Home base is Church Point, a small town with one caution light, a hell of a buggy festival, and a whole lot of pride. It’s where we raise our kids, feed our fire, and run Richlyn Customs, a family-owned welding and fabrication shop with big-shop capability and small-town hustle.
This shop didn’t start with investors or blueprints—it started with a welder, a little grit, and a need to build things better.
Richard Shirley, founder of Richlyn Customs, first picked up a welding hood in high school. Back then, it wasn’t about making money—it was about fixing what was broken, building what didn’t exist, and figuring it out with your hands. For over 15 years, Richard welded, fabbed, and built projects for himself, friends, and anyone who needed something that actually lasted.
Meanwhile, he was working offshore in the oil & gas industry—15 years of deep-water rigs, rough schedules, big risk, and even bigger lessons. That offshore mindset—work hard, fix it fast, and don’t screw around—bled into everything he built. In April 2022, Richard finally turned the side hustle into a full-time operation, built on experience, precision, and the kind of craftsmanship you don’t get from an Amazon order.
But Richlyn Customs isn’t just Richard. It’s the whole Shirley crew.
Carlyn Shirley, Richard’s wife and co-owner, brings her own brand of hustle. She once ran the largest goat dairy in Louisiana, which means she knows a thing or two about hard work, early mornings, and running a business that never sleeps. Today, she helps manage day-to-day operations, customer relationships, and keeps the whole damn thing moving forward.
Their oldest son, Caden, jumps in when there’s work to do—whether it’s helping on job sites, organizing tools, or just learning how to grind like Dad. It’s not just a business. It’s legacy work, and the next generation is already learning how it’s done.
What We Do
At Richlyn Customs, we offer full-service in-house and mobile welding & fabrication. From CNC plasma cutting (up to ¾” thick plate) to custom monograms, BBQ pits, tractor implements, and full-on fabrication projects—we build the wild, the weird, the heavy-duty, and the one-off.
If you can dream it, draw it, or duct tape it together—we’ll figure out how to make it real. And we’ll overbuild it while we’re at it.
We proudly serve all of Louisiana, East Texas, and West Mississippi, offering both shop-based fabrication and mobile welding services. Whether you’re a homeowner needing a fence repair, a contractor with a busted excavator bucket, or a business looking for branded metal signs—we show up, we get to work, and we do it right.
No Job Too Small, Too Big, or Too Damn Weird
We’ve fixed broken trailer hitches on backroads. Reinforced tractor parts in the mud. Cut ½” plate under the shop lights while the radio’s blasting Waylon. We’ve worked from napkin sketches, last-minute phone calls, and “hey man, can you fix this real quick” jobs.
We don’t mind. It’s what we do.
At Richlyn Customs, we build with pride. We build with precision. And we build like your name’s going on it—because ours already is.
You bring the crazy. We’ll bring the steel.
Let’s build something worth talking about.
